Border Collies

Once in a while, we find ourselves rescuing a Border Collie, particularly now that the local Border Collie rescue organization is out of operation. At the moment, we do not have any Border Collies in our rescue program, but that could change at any time.

This playful Border Collie is Jazz. He was found wandering the streets by a jogger – Jazz happily herded the jogger back to his home. The jogger took Jazz to a vet to be scanned for a microchip, which he has. The microchip was registered to a different vet in the Salt Lake valley, whom the jogger immediately called. That vet reported that Jazz "ran away" from his owner three or four months ago, and the owner said that he "replaced the dog" and doesn't want Jazz back!

Jazz was in such good shape when he was found, it seems likely that he had received care during the months when he was "missing'. That former owner claimed that Jazz was an escape artist, but his current foster family says that they have had no problems with him at all.

Jazz is a neutered mail, tri-color, and weighs between 30 and 35 pounds. He has a great disposition and is very playful. He likes to hide beneath things if he's not getting attention. Jazz seems to have no problem with other dogs, except that he tries to keep them away from "his person". He can play rough but will quickly learn when (or if) that is appropriate. He has had some training and knows at least the commands "sit" and "load up" (to get into the car).

Please call Lee (+1.801.274.2255) for more information on Jazz and or to meet him in person.

Collies

Once in a while, we find ourselves rescuing a Collie. At the moment, we do not have any Collies in our rescue program, but that could change at any time. If you are interested in adopting a rescued Collie, please have a look at the rescue group for that wonderful breed, Collie Rescue of Utah.

Chauncey 2008-01 Chauncey is a very handsome, small-sized Collie, weighing in at 47lbs who came to us from Idaho. He was found running loose in a rural area and brought to a small shelter where nobody claimed him. The shelter was too small to do much for him so they asked the large Bosie shelter to help them out. The staff there knew that Collie Rescue and Sheltie Rescue in Utah would help out so transportation was arranged to get him to us. He arrived with suspected kennel cough and covered in dried mud and therefore went straight into isolation at Cottonwood Animal Hospital – a great vet clinic! Neutering, heartworm testing, vaccinations, worming, treatment for kennel cough, and a general exam were scheduled. Chauncey's loving nature and willingness to please made him an instant hit at Cottonwood. Chanuncey is extremely gentle with children and babies and feels the need to go get Mom if the baby is crying. A very sweet boy, Chauncey is estimated to be about 3 years old. Read more about Chauncey and see more pictures on our blog site, SheltieTales.

Chauncey's adoption fee is $285.00

Other Breeds

As a special service to the local pet community, Sheltie Rescue of Utah provides space on this page for people who need to find a new home for their dogs. KayLee 2008-01

KayLee is the sweetest girl, very well behaved, and dearly wants to please her people. We believe she's a Sheltie mixed possibly with Belgian Shepherd. She's estimated to be about 8 years of age but we don't know her real age and this girl has got energy and love to spare. Other than being a bit overweight, she's in great shape. This very intelligent girl also has herding instinct and trains and adapts very readily. She gets along very well with other dogs and would be great with children. Her herding instinct interferes with her love of cats. She seems to want to take care of her family, both people and pets. You can learn even more about KayLee and see more photos of her at SheltieTales.

Her adoption fee is $100.00 (but she's worth so much more).
