76) Tippy is an 8 year old Sheltie (Autumn, 2006) who's long-life Mom passed away. Tippy remained in her home while her Mom's son moved in and lived there for a year. Then the son moved out and a friend of the son, Ray, moved in. Finally, both Ray and Tippy had to move out and Tippy had to find a new home. It took no time at all for her to find her new Mom and Dad with Linda and Jim. Tippy's a happy, sweet Sheltie-girl who is not too keen on other dogs but is enjoying her new cat-mates.

77) Anastasia was turned over to Sheltie Rescue of Utah because she was anxious around small children. The owner felt that in addition to Anna being unnecessarily anxious because of the presence of small children in the household, she was not getting the time and attention she deserved. In short, her owner felt that Ana's quality of life was poor. Anna is six years old and loves to play. She is a small Sheltie and sometimes acts a bit like she expects to be hit. But she's very sweet and only wanted to bond with the family in her new forever home.
Ana was adopted by a wonderful family who previously adopted Sassie from Sheltie Rescue of Utah, so we know that she'll have a wonderful life and a great buddy to share it with. |
78) Tucker is not a Sheltie, but he still needed a permanent home -- a very good friend of Sheltie Rescue "came into" this puppy and asked us to help place him. Tucker is a handsome male Labrador/shepherd puppy born in early September, 2006. He has a stunning caramel colored coat with a black overlay marking down his back. He is crate trained and runs right into his crate on command. In addition, he is mostly housebroken (if supervised), and is doing great for his young age. He loves to hike and keeps up nicely on short puppy adventures. His coat is very soft and easy to keep clean as it is short, so there is very little coat maintenance. He travels really well in the car and already sleeps through the night quietly in his crate. He deserves someone who has the time, love, and energy to devote to his training.
In no time at all Tucker found his forever home and is already living happily ever after. |
79) Sadie belonged to a former Sheltie breeder who lives in a nearby state. The breeder is a senior who had an accident that left her unable to give her Shelties the standard of care that she wanted to give them. After trying for a year to regain that ability, she was injured again and faced several months in hospital and physical therapy. To ensure that her beloved dogs would be given the best care they could get, she contacted Sheltie Rescue.
Along with several other Shelties, Sadie arrived at Sheltie Rescue of Utah anxious, but in pretty good physical condition. Sadie is 8 and a half years old (October 2006), is very well behaved. Sadie does get along very well with other dogs and with people. She's a great companion dog who loves to come to her foster Mom and Dad for love and attention.
This lovely girl was adopted by her foster family and has already settled into her forever home.

79) Cole was turned over to us in October, 2006, by his Mom and Dad because his Mom loved him too much to be willing to curb his barking or let him know that she wasn't always at his beck and call. Mom was expecting twins and she just wasn't able to take care of Cole and the twins at the same time. Cole's Mom and Dad were equally bad about setting guidelines for Cole and sticking with them -- turning Cole into a bit of a behavior problem who was also overweight. His Mom and Dad said he wouldn't eat dog food because he got whatever he wanted from the table at meal times.
Cole is actually a wonderful three year old Sheltie-boy who was allowed to run a bit amuck. With a little guidance and training, he's remembered his manners and is enjoying dog food again. In no time at all, Cole's foster Mom fell madly in love with him and welcomed him into her home forever. And there's another of those happy endings that we love so much! |
80) Gracie came to us with her brother Indy. They were given up because the family's life changed and they could no longer give these lovely dogs the time and attention they would like to.
Gracie is a three year old (in mid-2006) tri-color Sheltie. She is spayed, debarked, up to date on all shots, and fairly well cared for. She has a very nice temperament and does well with children. Gracie's health is excellent and she has years of love and joy to give to her new adopted home.
She was adopted by a family who were looking for a Sheltie to join their Aussie and saw Gracie's picture on our website. While we originally hoped to place Gracie and her brother together, we finally realized that Gracie would thrive more quickly on her own. This wonderful family drove down all the way from Boise, ID, to meet and then adopt this darling little girl. We couldn't possibly be happier with the way things worked out for Gracie. |
81) Sarge came to us in January, 2007, not quite a year and a half old, with a very sweet, gentle, and friendly personality. Sarge gets along well with other dogs, although sometimes he bugged the older dogs a bit more than they like – he wanted to play and they don't always feel like it. He is very people oriented and responsive, quickly picking up on what is wanted from him. We felt that he was a very intuitive and caring Sheltie.
Which is why we were thrilled when we were contacted by a wondeful woman who lives in southeast Utah who needed a dog who would be more than "just" a pet – she needed a dog who could be an assistance dog to help her when she requires the use of her wheelchair, when she needs objects picked up and retrieved, and so forth. Unfortunately, our intuitions about that woman were very, very badly wrong. Month after month, she ignored our attempts to contact her to finalize the adoption, and when we drive several hours one way to retrieve Sarge, we discovered that this adorable, cooperative, highly trainable boy had a shock collar on him!
Sarge is currently being fostered by a family who previously adopted two Shelties from us previously (Laddie and Apache) and who just might (fingers crossed) decide to adopt Sarge, too. |
82) Ritzy, along with Simone, was in a puppy mill that was shut down by Uintah County and was so frightened when we got her (in November, 2006) that we could hear her teeth chattering. Our vets at Cottonwood Animal Hospital discovered that in addition to needing dentals and spays, she and Simone both had inguinal hernias that needed repair. The hernias were difficult surgeries, but Ritzy healed well. Now,she's learning that life can be sweet when you're loved.
Ritzy, at eight years of age,was a bit overweight and needed to lose close to 10 lbs. She's a very sweet girl, affectionate, and interested to learn what's going on in the house. She seems pretty comfortable with the other Shelties in the house.
She was adopted by a wonderful single gentleman who is home most of the time and can give Ritzy the attention that she deserves. A better home for this shy little girl couldn't exist!

83) Cloudy is a Blue Merle Sheltie who was found running the streets in Sandy. Animal control received many reports to come out to get her, but each time she was able to get away from them – obviously frightened and desperate to protect herself. Finally, Sandy Animal control was able to snare her and pick her up. Nobody claimed her, so she was turned over to SRU.
An orthopedic examination found that her left hip bone was completely out of the socket and her femur was broken in multiple places. The injury was old enough that the hip socket was completely grown over with scar tissue. There was very little chance that she would ever use this leg again, even if it was repaired...and it wasn't clear that it could be repaired. The decision was made to amputate her leg and let her live life as a three-legged Sheltie-girl without pain. In fact, she doesn't have a clue that she's "disadvantaged" – she can still move too fast for us to catch her!
In one of those wonderful, heart-warming happy endings, Cloudy very quickly found a forever home with a family who will love her and give her the tenderness and love that she deserves. Dontcha just love it?! |
