Hi! My name is Boomer! Don't let my name worry you...I'm probably the quietest Sheltie you'll ever meet.  Well, I'm not so quiet when you cuddle me and rub my tummy because then I like to talk and groan and tell you how wonderful it is to have someone in my life like you.  I'm just about to celebrate my birthday.  I'll be 3 years old on January 20th.  My previous family was unable to keep me because there were already too many 2-legged and 4-legged kids in the house.  I'm used to children and I will play with them but I won't allow them to hurt me. I growl to let them know that it's time to stop whatever they are doing.

The people at the Sheltie Rescue say that my photos don't really show what a handsome boy I am with a really, really sweet face.  They're going to try to get some better photos and video of me --- so you can see the real me!

It takes me a little time to warm up to a new family.  Unfortunately, I was kept in a crate during my early developmental stages.  (It wasn't my idea to just stay in the crate.) I'm getting used to the noises in a household but some of them still surprise me and sometimes they scare me. When I'm scared I like to run into a crate or somewhere that is like a crate so I can feel safe.

I am not used to outside noises very much.  Cars driving by, skateboards, and car horns and the like, will scare me and I have learned how to slip out of my harness and run away!  I once ran away and was gone for 5 months.  But somebody told my Mom and Dad where I was and they came and found me and brought me back home.  I was lucky.

After about a month or longer I am so strongly bonded to my family that I won't bolt outside the front door.  Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that.  When I've just been introduced into a new family I have a bad habit of bolting.  This behavior will go away.  You will all have to be VERY VERY careful not to let me near an open door until I've learned that you are my forever family.  Once I've learned that, with your help, I like to stick very close to home.  When I get scared, I can slip out of a regular collar or even a harness.

If you'd like more information about me or if you're interested in meeting me to possibly adopt me (oh...wouldn't I LOVE that!) please go to http://SheltieRescueUT.org and register and then fill out the Application for Adoption.  You can also call us at 801-942-4762.
