Angel is a very personable little Sheltie-girl. She's smart and sweet but a bit skittish. It seems as though someone may have frightened her. Actually, it seems as though someone did a wonderful job house training her and teaching her, her name. Someone else seems to have taught her that bad things might happen if someone comes close or if a leash is put on.
We were told that Angel wouldn't walk on a leash. She's not yet trained to go for walks however, she's not afraid of having a leash on her. If I pick up the end of the leash and call to her, she'll come to me and follow along with me. However, if the leash is not on her and she sees me pick it up, she becomes wary. With a lot of love and bonding in a calm household (no little ones) Angel will become a very wonderful companion.
Angel has no training other than her house training. She's very good about coming when called though...she really wants to be wherever I am. She's also very comfortable being in a crate although she doesn't need to be there unless it's sleepy-time (otherwise she'll play with other young Shelties here) or unless I'm going out of the house. She's young enough that she's still doing some chewing...at least I've caught her chewing on some soft bedding in her crate. I haven't seen her chew on anything inappropriate in our house yet.
Angel does look for a way out of the yard. As tiny as she is you must have a very, very good fencing system to keep her safe in your backyard. She could be a runner once she's out of the yard because the world outside the yard can be big and scary.
Angel definitely likes the sound of her own voice. We're working on trying to curb that but this will require ongoing attention.
