Echo was turned over to us with his father, Bridger. Echo is a year old. Both boys, as well as some previous puppies and another one year old, were turned over to us by their owners because the wife has been very sick for quite some time.
Both boys are now neutered and up to date on vaccines. Bridger got a dental while being neutered. Nobody leaves Sheltie Rescue without being neutered or spayed. If needed, we always do dentals while the dogs are under for the neuter or spay.
Echo is close to 17 inches at the shoulder. He currently weighs under 25lbs but eventually he'll fill out and weigh right around 25 to 30 pounds. His Dad has a tendency to put on weight and I'll bet that Echo grows into that too...however right now he's a light eater. Echo wants to play and there's one girl here, Tipper/Zipper who enjoys playing with him. They've only known each other for about 4 or 5 days so they're doing really well. Echo is a very people-shy Sheltie and needs socialization. He's more shy of men and more frightened of men than women. He will, without a doubt, require work to socialize and he needs training, although he is house-trained. During the day he has the run of the main floor here in our home with his Sheltie-buddies and us. At bedtime Echo goes into his crate for the night just because he's a year old and I really want to sleep instead of being kept awake by a playful puppy-boy. Bridger, Echo's Dad, is a great companion dog. His goal is to be my shadow, sit with me, and sleep with me...which I don't allow him to do. (I just had a complete shoulder joint replacement and I can't take the chance of his jumping on me.)
Bridger is startled by unfamiliar noises and is cautious with new people. If he doesn't know what I want from him he gets somewhat anxious but he's learned to be more trusting. I mention all of this about Bridger, who is 7 years old, because my bet is that Echo will be very similar as he matures. The adoption fee for Echo is $375.00.
